Welcome in my writing world!
I live in a 450-year-old, half-timbered house. As I work, I can look up and see the tool marks of the medieval craftsmen etched into the wooden beams.
At moments like these, the distant past seems very recent.
Libraries large and small, archives, museums, museum depots, local history museums – these are the hunting grounds I know and love.
As a historian and archaeologist, I have 15 years of experience as a researcher & as a (ghost)writer.
How can we communicate history with scientific accuracy while retaining the full drama of the narrative? This was the subject of my doctoral thesis. I was awarded a grant for my dissertation (University of Freiburg) by the Gerda Henkel Foundation. For my first novel project I was awarded the Martha Saalfeld Prize as well as a writer-in-residence grant for France.
I see history everywhere …
